Our Philosophy
Hale Kealaula, is dedicated to supporting women and babies. We believe that every client has a right to safe, satisfying health care with respect for human dignity and cultural beliefs.
We provide services that respect an individuals' needs and values and does not discriminate on the basis of language, culture, age, economic status, health status, sexual orientation and identification, gender expression, marital status, ability, race or religion. Our practice is centered upon sexuality, reproduction, menopause and the understanding of healthy individuals progressing through the cycle of life.
We believe that midwifery is a holistic practice, combining and understanding of the social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychological and physical ramifications of the reproductive health experience.
We believe that homebirth and birth center births allows our clients to be in control of their birthing experience, create their own community into which their child will be born, and express themselves uniquely and creatively in birth. Our goal is to make the The Midwives Model of Care™accessible for every person and family who seek it.
The principles of informed choice, continuity of care, the client-as-decision-maker, appropriate technology, integrated education and counseling, and peer support provide the basis for our philosophy of care.
All Donations are greatly appreciated and used to further our goal of providing Hawaiʻi families with birth choices, education and loving care.
